Why does my dog (lab) pace around the yard when no ones home?
I just got a Yellow Lab 1 week ago. She is 4 years old and has been kenneled a good portion of those 4 years by her previous owner. She is a great dog inside and outside when we are at home. But when we leave to go to work for the day and we have to put her outside is when all heck breaks loose. She paces the yard constantly going up and down the same path. I have no idea how long she does this for but when we come home she is exhausted. I also know that she has a tendency to howl when no one is home too.
My real question is what can i do to make her more comfortable in our backyard? She has plenty of room to roam so i know thats not the problem. Should i get her a kennel and put her back inside where she might feel comfortable or is there anything i can do? I walk her everyday and on some days i'll take her for a run. I just cant figure out how to get her to stop running the same path, back & fourth, rain or shine. Please help me for my dogs and the grasses sake!

If she was kenneled for most of her life then I would suggest buying her a kennel and putting her back inside where she will feel comfortable! She probably is having flash backs about being in a kennel by her previous owner.
Let her inside for the dogs sake, and your grasses :]
Also, if you are uncomforable about her potty-ing in the house, keep her in the kitchen when you arent home (can be closed off with baby gates) so if she pee's it will be much easier to clean up. Unless of course your kitchen is carpeted LOL. That is what I do with my 6 year old Peke since he was a pup. Now he loves the kitchen with his blanket so he always stays in there when we go out.
